2016 has kicked off to a good start. RETOSA’s restructuring and transformation processes are coming to an end. The Board will now be able to formulate a new structure which will drive and direct the new strategy.
Acting Executive Director, Simba Mandinyenya, said that, “the restructuring process will be driven and directed by the new regional growth and development strategy. The new structure will be informed by the new strategy and this means that there must be a common vision, understanding and goal among the member states”.
He further explained that one of the major problems faced by RETOSA has been an inadequate supply of resources to implement planned projects. During the restructuring process, this has been given serious consideration.
As a SADC Secretariat, RETOSA is happy to report that it has reached the end of the financial year in a healthy position. According to Simba, this is the first time in many years that RETOSA has enough finds to implement the programmes that will be passed by the Board for the new financial year.
“We believe this is a new beginning, where we will be operating from a strong foundation. The Planning and Research and Marketing and Communications departments have laid the groundwork and it is now a matter of re-focusing, resourcing and building on top of what has been done and achieved so far”, Simba concluded.
